We're thrilled to announce that Eliza Muldoon has joined our team as Artistic Director for Art Month 2012.
A long time lover of the arts and respected arts writer, Eliza enjoys a challenge. “Art Month offers a unique opportunity to showcase the artists and galleries that form the heart of Sydney’s thriving contemporary art scene. We want people to get excited, to make them feel both welcomed and involved.”
An awarded lecturer at the University of New South Wales’ College of Fine Arts (COFA) and founding director of the Arts Interview website, Eliza will be responsible for developing and implementing a curatorial and artistic program to form the basis of Art Month Sydney 2012.

Amazing cakes from the talented folk over at Black Star Pastry. We really are spoiled for choice with all of the amazing restaurants and cafes in Newtown, and in our humble opinion, Black Star are right up there with the best.
We recently celebrated Rebecca's birthday with a lemon meringue basil jelly pyramid. Minds were blown and we're still savouring it days later!
It's worth spending 22 minutes of your life to hear his now famous Stanford speech - 3 personal stories with extraordinary resonance.
If you have less time, the Think Different campaign still resonates powerfully.

These incredible Pantone inspired biscuits by American blogger and designer Kim Neill have captured our imagination / hearts / stomachs.
Appealing to our predilection for rainbow colour coding and virgo-esque organisation - so satisfying! Not sure we possess her patience however.
September at Peloton in Sydney’s Chippendale has seen a month-long celebration of performance art. We were lucky enough to get along and see The Great Winter, by Penelope Benton and Alexandra Clapham.
The Great Winter is a still performance piece, conveying the act of pausing and moving at the same time, to arrive at a new place. In Norse mythology, the Great Winter lasts for three years throughout which snow falls in all directions and there is no intervening summer. Afterward, the world resurfaces anew and fertile and the world is repopulated by two human survivors who have no recollection of the end of the world, or the Great Winter.
A beautiful and magical installation in the window of Peloton, this performance proved timely, as we shake off the cold Sydney winter months and welcome the Spring’s new bloom.

March 2012 will be the first in an exciting, long term partnership between 10 group and Art Month.

With renovations in full swing at the Museum of Contemporary Art exhibitions have been moved offsite to National Art School in Darlinghurst, Sydney. The first of these is Tell Me Tell Me: Australian and Korean Art 1976–2011- the result of collaboration between curators Glenn Barkly from the MCA and Inhye Kim from National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul. The most surprising aspect of the exhibition is the history of artistic exchange between Korea and Australia, which dates back 1970s and was built upon particularly during early Sydney Biennales. The exhibition is comprised of some fascinating historical works from artist such as Nam June Paik and Stelarc as well some contemporary Australian artists such Brooke Emery and Louise Weaver, both of whose installations work particularly well in the National Art School exhibition space. Recommended!
Showing until 24 August 2011.

The new John Kaldor Family Gallery @ AGNSW is a gift to be enjoyed by generations. Lets start with the space. Light and expansive, it feels like it's always been there, a natural progression that seamlessly ties the new with the old. The collection is varied, exciting and personal. Holding over 200 works of art, it includes some of the most important names of our time. Robert Rauschenberg, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Sol LeWitt, Richard Long, Jeff Koons, Bill Viola and Ugo Rondinone all feature. The site specific iPads are a great touch, if we had to grumble it’s a slight shame there are only 6 of them...
A fabulous opening night event marked the first of many future visits. What a gift!

Inspiration comes in the most unlikely places. I wasn't expecting Manchester to be the biggest cultural highlight of my recent trip to the UK and Italy (it wasn't), however I was excited to discover Manchester Art Gallery was hosting a rare retrospective of Anish Kapoor, the celebrated English artist/sculptor who's work I'd always wanted to see. Interestingly, many of the works need to be 'recreated' in order to show them, such as the coloured pigment work White Sand, Red Millet, Many Flowers (1982). Personal favourite? 2005's Negative Box Shadow, basically a massive big red wax object dissected by a metal plane. Intriguing and inspiring.

10 group is thrilled to announce the successful launch of our latest venture - the artwhatson iPhone app.
This fabulous app puts a world of Australian art in your pocket. Location driven, it's the perfect personal exhibition planner, making it easier than ever to find out what's on nearby and access gallery and exhibition info on the go. Browse hundreds of exhibitions happening right now, sorted by gallery, location or days till end. Maps, directions, featured lists and opening times make engaging with art local art a breeze.
In it's first week of release the app has had a great response with over 3500 downloads.
“If you’re in Australia, download this fantastic new gallery/exhibition iPhone app. Best directory app we’ve seen” The Art Market

There's definitely a buzz in the air during March in Sydney. Art Month kicked off with a bang with the official opening Party at the Ivy. Highlights included interactive performance work by Sydney artist Tom Polo, who took the idea of eavesdropping to new and public levels! We've thoroughly enjoyed being spoilt for choice with art related events to attend daily. We've loved rediscovering the different art precincts, catching up at openings, attending floor talks and being rewarded for our efforts at Thursday night Art After Hours events!
Head here to check out events still to come.

Last weekend saw the launch of 10 group's latest publication, Col Jordan: Edge and Paradox.
Written by Peter Pinson, Edge & Paradox is a beautiful full colour book about the life and work of Col Jordan. Edge and Paradox represents a collaboration between two of Australian art's brightest minds and working with Peter and Col was nothing short of a privilege. The launch was held at Peter Pinson Gallery accompanied by an exhibition of Col's works. Despite the intense heat a beautiful afternoon was held by all!
Particular thanks to our designer Geraldine Fitzgerald who did an incredible job.

Saturday marked an exciting milestone for 10 group - our first book was launched amidst much excitement.
Having watched Graham Blondel's career develop over the years we approached him with a plan to compile his life's work into a beautiful full colour book.
Designed, printed and published by 10 group, Graham's work literally jumps from the page.

Tracey Emin inspires at AGNSW
A Saturday afternoon spent listening to YBA member Tracey Emin in conversation with Edmund Capon at AGNSW was fascinating and inspiring. Emin discussed her career, The Young British Artist movement and shared some insights about life from the unique standpoint of one of the most critically and commercially successful artists alive today.
Emin spoke about sending subliminal messages out to the universe, losing her dad earlier this year, what 'comfort' means in a life lived so publicly, and her plans for the future (principally to learn french and how to steer her new boat) All with numerous broken ribs!

2010 marks 20 years of business for 10 group. We celebrated the occasion with our wonderful clients and friends in a beautiful event at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Director Paul Becker reflected
“20 years doesn’t feel like an end in itself – it feels like a beginning, an opportunity to realise our potential and welcome new challenges. I'm proud of how we've diversified, grown and evolved. How we've embraced change, indeed tackled it with relish."
Special thanks to 10 group member Jess for her amazing party planning skills.
